Review of The Meg (2018) by Frederick D — 13 Aug 2018
The movie has a nice build up, and didn't rely too heavily on fantastic CGI and shark scenes to creature a fun thriller in which you see Statham and others, cleverly take on a massive shark. For those who compare this to Jaws, it's just as good because it has the same horror element to it, namely an unseen horror, where shots of the creature are limited for a time until the moment they are immersed in the action attempting to kill it.
It also has a good backstory, with character development and depth. And unlike Jaws, the manner in which they do it, is more epic and perhaps a little more realistic. I certainly wasn't expecting it.
Definitely put this up there as one of my favorite shark movies.
