Review of The Meg (2018) by Dominic C — 15 Aug 2018
Honestly, the Meg was a solid shark film! Sure, maybe there wasn't a whole lot of blood and gore and they could have driven up the camp factor, but I was still enjoying the movie. Thought predictable in other senses, I enjoyed the Introduction to the movie as the initial mission of the team of Mana 1 was to potentially discover new species of life.
However, as we all expected, stuff went to shit and people died. The interesting thing about the Meg is it takes itself seriously, and the *spoiler* trio Jason Statham's character forms with Li Bing Bing and her daughter of the film feels real, and like they really connected from the on slaught of the Meg.
All in all, I would've loved if the Meg had more jump scares, or moments where you're closing your eyes, as most of these moments were revealed in the trailer. If you enjoy shark movies or creature flicks, this one is the right one for you! C'mon, give it a try! I'd pay to watch a sequel.
