Review of The Medusa Touch (1978) by Oscar D — 13 Jan 2014
Someone brutally assaults a creepy English writer (Richard Burton, looking quite menacing in a series of flashbacks) and a French police inspector (Lino Ventura) on loan to Scotland Yard investigates why the assault took place.
He is aided in his enquiries by an American psychiatrist (Lee Remick). What does burton's character have to do with a jumbo jet crash in London and a tragic U.S. space mission? Very creepy and atmospheric late 1970s horror/Sci-Fi thriller that did well in its native UK but bombed in North America.
I saw it on CBC television in the mid-1980s and it made enough of an impression on me that I acquired the Blu-Ray disc recently. Lots of very familiar British actors in supporting roles including a young, almost unrecognizable Derek Jacobi as a publisher with a moustache.
