Review of The Mechanic (2011) by Danny C — 28 Jul 2011
A great set up leads to an engaging movie. Slow and quite methodical all the way through its expertly paced for the viewer to get a good grasp of the 2 leads and it has a truly effective and great ending.
The stath gets chance to use his acting chops here and hes great and amazing fun to watch. Ben foster is the more fun of the 2 thou playing the rebel without a cause tough guy right off the bat expertly.
The old killer teaching new killer the rope angle works great here and thou the fights are kept more restrained for the most part they are great and seem a lot more realistic (except at the end when its flames frenzy!).
The ending is just right for this and shows a nice turn full circle. A very fun film to watch thou fans of out and out action may be put back by its slower pace it works better all the more for it.
