Review of The Matrix Reloaded (2003) by Geoff T — 03 May 2012

Few sequels have the ability to build off of the first and not only build off of, but excel. Reloaded is that movie. There are some things that simply cannot be outdone, and like most movie series, we tend to see the same thing as the series progresses, but in Reloaded I was so impressed in the level of maturity, I could not see any redundancy.

Instead of creating an entirely new review for this second installment of 'The Matrix' trilogy, I will simply build off of my first, and explain why this was... and I dare say... better than the first.

Now it may not have been as original as the first installment of 'The Matrix,' but 'The Matrix Reloaded' is able to take a very fun, very energetic idea and run with it, carefree of where it has been, and only looking towards where it can go.

~It's been mentioned before by "Top Critics" and by some of the Super Reviewers, but I want to make it clear. If we look at 'The Matrix' as a blast of sci-fi freshness and a revitalization of a genre that really needed a good kick in the pants then we can see 'The Matrix Reloaded' as a merging of both a fun sci-fi fantasy world with a mature action/adventure movie. I feel as though the Wachowski brothers have not only found a better voice to produce this movie through, but they take the time to expand on the gem they created in the first Matrix.

~Character development was amazing. I talk about this in almost every single review I have, and I am happy to see it take place in this movie. Not only do we see an addition of many more detailed characters, but our main figures see more depth and the personalities that we've come to love in the first movie are even more enjoyable in this sequel.

~ Based on the trilogy we expect action, leather, great philosophical dialog, and lots and lots and LOTS of kick butt sci-fi thrills. 'The Matrix Reloaded' holds up its end of the bargain bringing us nothing short of a fun ride for the entire 2 hours 18 minutes. I actually will go as far as saying that the action in this round was better than that in the first movie.

Needless to say I was much more excited and am a bigger fan of 'The Matrix Reloaded' than I am of 'The Matrix' but that's not to say that there is much of a difference. If you are reading this review it's clear that you need to just sit down and watch all three movies in a row without regard of anything else but the mindless and actually mindful movies that the Wachowski brothers have created for us to enjoy.

Watch them. ALL.
