Review of The Matador (2005) by Arseniy V — 08 Jan 2008
Have you ever seen a commercial for a film that you could just sense would be likable to you? And so you're watching the film and it's getting near the end. The hard work (the setup, character building, engrossing the viewer into the plot) is done and done well at that.
All the makings are there,. The only thing left is a solid climax, one with some sort of point. And just as you catch yourself thinking: "By god, this might actually go somewhere!" Just then, suddenly: slam bam, there is a quick shameful cop-out, the picture grinds to a screeching halt and credits roll.
Leaving you with but two words: "What for?" Have you seen a film like that lately? I sure as fuck have :).
