Review of The Mask of Zorro (1998) by Alexander F — 18 May 2013
Looking at it, it's definitely better than the Legend of Zorro, but it still doesn't deliver the action-packed Zorro experience I'd like to see. The movie is big on style and presentation, but it doesn't show enough style to keep me interested, especially with a movie that's way too long for what it is (a problem I seem to be running into an awful goddamn lot).
The characters themselves are relatively uninteresting, and suffer from clichéd dialouge. The action, however, has plenty of swordfighting compared to its sequel, and even though the fight scenes aren't too impressive, they make up for some of the flaws in the film overall.
