Review of The Martian (2015) by Hanneguacamole — 20 Nov 2015
I went to this movie by myself. In a new city. In a new state. Riding a new bus. Matt Damon, I felt a bit like a martian as well, although admittedly you are the bigger star. In what could have easily ended up as Interstellar's backwash, the The Martian holds its own.
I've found so many similarities in my life here so I can't imagine a better movie to see at this time in my life. Loneliness, learning how to survive in a new environment. What's missing, however, is the rescue mission.
Enough about my life – the plot was pretty much always known yet I was always intrigued by the details. The obstacles from Earth, strained communication, and especially the potatoes. Real-life martian problems are probably the most entertaining part, making us wait in anticipation to see the new innovative ways that the botanist will avoid death yet again.
