Review of The Marine (2006) by Roger A — 26 Aug 2009
Hokey, phony, and manipulative. Sure, the Marines discharge people for being heroes. Sure they do. And these heroes inevitably run into bad guys who just happen to be at the same gas station. Yeah, right.
And then the bad guys lose their cool and? you can guess the rest. This movie is really, really, really bad. Did I say it was bad? Ludicrous, laughable and silly. Parts of it are fun, but very small parts.
Needs more humor. A few flashes of humor are OK, like some of the references to ?Deliverance,? for example. Why do these bad guys kill each other? Because the script calls for it. This flick could be a guilty pleasure if you like brainless fun.
Macho psycho silly: a new name for an old genre.
