Review of The Marine (2006) by David G — 09 Jul 2016
For a cliched, A to B action flick from World Wrestling Entertainment this is actually quite a well made film. It looks good, has some nice action, enormous explosions and boasts a couple of neat performances from Robert Patrick, who spouts some great dialogue as the villain and also John Cena, who brings his wrestling persona's natural likability and charisma to the screen, even if he doesn't have an awful lot to do except run a lot and throw some punches.
Sure the plot is completely generic but hey, what did you expect? Keep your eyes peeled for the part where Cena performs CPR in slow-mo in front of an explosion! That has to be a movie first!!
