Review of The Marine 2 (2009) by Marc R — 09 Mar 2010
Well who would have thought a WWE made film would have been a decent watch? I certainly didn't. I wanted a no brainer popcorn movie that required very little attention paid to it and this was my choice, and a pretty good one at that.
The plot is purely functional and all that is required for this type of film. The important parts are the explosions, acting and fight scenes so lets cover those. Oddly the explosions are fairly low key compared to the first Marine movie but when they happened they were impressively suitable to the current scene and not just thrown in to distract from everything wrong with a film like some do.
The acting was solid enough considering the wrestler/no name cast and surprisingly believable this combined with the gritty although sometimes over edited fights scenes make this a pretty good film to watch when you don't want a heavy plot.
if WWE could make the acting and fighting this believable in the ring they'd be an even bigger force in entertainment than they are now. Final thought: It's like watching Commando for the first time all over again.
