Review of The Manson Family (1997) by Matt M — 31 Mar 2008

I don't want you to see this movie. Again, I don't want you to see this. But it is such an incredibly disturbing and powerful film that I need to give it the highest rating possible. Jim Van Bebber has created an incredible film here, but its honestly one I never want to see again.

I felt like washing my eyeballs after viewing this. The power of this film is undeniable, but it is extremely heinous, which actually makes it that much better, after all the bullshit hero worship that Charlie has gotten over the years.

Simply put, Charles Manson was and is a horrible piece of shit, and his cult was made up of the dregs of the earth. This film paints them as they were, with no bullshit Tinsel Town sugar coating. It is an incredible artistic achievement in motion pictures, but honestly, I couldn't watch this one more than once in every 3 or so years.

Its that intensely disturbing.
