Review of The Manchurian Candidate (2004) by Alicia A — 15 Sep 2009
I don't watch many mainstream thrillers with huge stars, but this gave me everything I wanted. I haven't seen the original, so cannot compare, but this kept my attention easily for 2 hours. The leads are all excellent, the plot rattles along nicely and Demme displays a few creepy, surrealistic fluorishes. I found the dream sequences memorably disturbing.
Yes, it is a bit silly, but the overall quality pulled me through. Great.
