Review of The Manchurian Candidate (1962) by Jeremy P — 23 Sep 2008
This might be just about the most overrated movie ever. It's "thrilling," "poignant," yadda yadda yadda. Really, though, it's a slow, predictable story with admittedly good cinematography.
I predicted the ending well before it happened, which isn't what is supposed to happen when you watch a thriller. Add in some heavy anti-McCarthyism propaganda (like we didn't get enough of that in grade school), and you have The Manchurian Candidate.
