Review of The Manchurian Candidate (1962) by John D — 04 Jan 2010
The plot has some loose ends, and honestly most of the changes in the remake were for the better (Sinatra's character seems like he should have been more important in the endgame, and Janet Leigh's character is useless and unbelievable).
However, theres something more sinister about the original, mainly due to excellent performances from Laurance Harvey and Angela Lansbury, and the commentary on the Communism scares is certainly interesting.
A classic, although somewhat dated.
