Review of The Manchurian Candidate (1962) by Marc G — 17 Jul 2013
The psychological thriller that set the stage for psychological thrillers to come, The Manchurian Candidate is an all-time classic. A sterling screenplay wrought with precision, smarts and suspense is the basis for this beautifully directed film.
The photography is impeccable, the editing sharp as the blade used to edit. If you've never considered Frank Sinatra much of an actor, you haven't seen this one. Though most consider it a political satire (this is lost on me), it stands on its own as a premium thriller, even 50 years later.
