Review of The Man with Two Brains (1983) by Marc B — 10 Nov 2006
In his finest hour, the is one of the best spoofs of all time; an insanely loopy homage to fifties 'B' Movies, where knowledge of it's inspiration isn't required. It's pitch perfect in every respect, the slapstick is creative and funny, the ideas still as smart today as back on it's release but it's brilliance is it has lines to do for, mainly due to Martin's slick delivery.
It's not for some (it's VERY VERY silly) but as an example of the genre it falls short in no respect. You are watching a man on top of his game, Martin's 'wild and crazy guy' persona was at it's peak here, before he abonded it for less interesting and formula roles in his later years.
If you love spoofs or great comedy, you'll be alot happier after this, then recent insipid efforts like 'Date Movie' or Martin's own remake of 'The Pink Panther'.
