Review of The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) by Mike L — 31 Aug 2012
A decent Bond movie, well most of them are, that lacks the gadgets and suspense of most others and relies on trying to be clever to a fault. To have both Ekland and Herve in this one movie is redundant as both serve as comic relief, together they cross each other off, the Ekland character in particular is annoying.
Christopher Lee plays Scaramanga an assassin who has targeted Bond as his next victim. With the death of Scaramanga's last victim, a solar-cell scientist, Bond must also track him down to retrieve the missing solar-cell.
The climatic meeting between the two advisories is something of a letdown. The only time we see "Q" is when Bond asks him to apply a third nipple on him, a known oddity that Scaramanga has when Bond tries to impersonate him.
Moore is fine as Bond, looking like he could come out of the middle of a riot without a hair out of place.
