I can see why Sinatra earned an Oscar nomination for best actor w/this film. he gave such a moving performance that I think his performance in the man w/the golden arm tops the one he gave, if not rivals the one, in from here to eternity.
It was also a plus to see darren mcgavin in this film (father from a christmas story)...
