Review of The Man with the Golden Arm (1955) by Bryan M — 01 Aug 2009
Powerful, if slightly dated take on drug addiction. Sinatra, in particular, is terrific as Frankie Machine. He earned a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his efforts, having studied hard in a method-actor fashion.
Elmer Bernstein's Academy Award-nominated jazz score is also well-deserving of its reputation and adds to the atmosphere.
