Review of The Man with the Golden Arm (1955) by Andrew B — 22 Feb 2012
Interesting early Hollywood attempt at drug addiction. The film is let down by the somewhat unbelievable story thread between Sinatra and his "disabled" girlfriend. However, with Preminger's claustrophobic direction, fine acting (stand out is pusher Darren McGavin) and "swingin'" soundtrack; there is very little to dislike in this little gem.
