Review of The Man Who Would Be King (1975) by Christopher S — 26 Feb 2009
A classic adventure story, "The Man Who Would Be King" is an immensely entertaining adaptation of a beloved Rudyard Kipling tale of two scoundrels who set themselves up as rulers of remote Kafiristan in Northern Afghanistan.
Full of wit, great acting, beautiful cinematography, a nice score by Maurice Jarre, and some nice action/spectacle scene, it isn't one of the best or deepest films ever made, but for an enjoyable adventure film it's hard to beat.
Connery and Caine are wonderfully compelling and amusing leads, with Christopher Plummer and Saeed Jaffrey providing amusing supporting turns.
