Review of The Man Who Wasn't There (2001) by Jeff B — 13 May 2011
Maybe my favorite Coen brothers drama, though I'd could possibly rank it behind "Barton Fink." The film is gorgeous. (I'd love to see them shoot another film in black and white.) The voiceover narration keeps you in Ed Crane's head the entire film and its never over-the-top or ridiculous.
It's a very "even" film--apart from the ending obviously--and I think that's what I liked about it. It was realistic, but still cinematic.
