Review of The Man Who Wasn't There (2001) by Lloyd R — 02 Aug 2008
I love this film to the extent that I can only judge my desires and sorrows for it within its light. This film is neutral to desire as a webcam and vivaciously ignorant of an audience.
The Coen brothers are not so magnificent in their soul as David Lynch. They are beautiful children without faces and without voices. Eventually, like all children, they will sculpt faces of their own of oatmeal and make odd whistling and snapping sounds to replace their damaged larynxes.
