A surprisingly well-textured western with good performances from the whole cast (except for Lee Van Cleef, who has about 5 lines of dialogue, none of which are important in the slightest, mostly he just stands there).
The movie has a lot to say about politics, law and order, as well as other things, but it's also a very competent western in its own right. I'd recommend this one (although I'm pretty sure it's way different from the short story which I haven't read since high school).
