Review of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) by Trevor L — 06 Feb 2010
Great movie. The script and acting are in top form. John Ford's best. Stewart is outstanding as the righteous, naive lawyer. Vera Mile is great and funny. Watch for the hat kicking scene(very funny).
Lee Marvin is menacing. John Wayne plays and supporting character and should have won an Oscar. I love the anti-violence theme, but sometimes good men must stand up and act. The black and white provides a perfect setting for the story.
Thank good Turner never colorized.
