A battle between a man who CONQUERED the west vs. a man who wants to TAME the west, with a mutual foe driving them both. John Wayne and Lee Marvin are great, as is the supporting cast in this original, thought provoking cowboy flick.
Trivia: this is the film where Wayne starts calling guys "pilgrim.".
