Review of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) by Joel A — 19 Aug 2007
On the surface it might seem like another western, but this movie goes far deeper. This is a complex film showing some of the benefits and absurdity of developing "civilized" societies. John Wayne embodies the self sufficient warrior cowboy, and James Stewart the tenderfoor East coast lawyer that brings about the figurative death of the warrior culture in the West.
