Review of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) by Darryl J — 03 Oct 2008
While I was watching this,I was wondering "Why in the hell is this as acclaimed as it is?". I mean the movie that I was watching was really good but I didn't see anything special about it; And then the last 40 minutes hit.
It's such a dramatic turn. I was caught by surprise at how everything came full circle and tripled in importance. A truly haunting ending. The last line is OHMYGOD amazing. John Wayne and James Stewart are the clear standouts in this film.
John Wayne, especially. There is a scene where he pretty much blew me away acting-wise. I felt so much for his character. All in all, this is yet another wonderful and amazing western by John Ford.
