I thought it was a better version than the 30's one because of the good quality and Jimmy Stewart. However, I would have liked to see Peter Lorre make a grand appearance, heh.
Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this one, I didn't find one dull or dragging moment. I really like Doris Day in this light (less theatrical and more dramatic), loved her rendition(s) of 'Que Sera, Sera'. The film was chocked full of suspence and engaging scenes like the Albert Hall scene, so extravagant but an edge of your seat moment...what a wonderful climax! I rank this film one of the best Hitchcock films ever!
