Review of The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) by Indi V — 20 Jul 2011
The good news it's very entertaining, and the shots of Morocco and London are nice. The climactic scene in during the opera, where no dialogue is heard for 10 minutes, is nothing short of astounding, and yet this one of Hitch's weaker films.
James Stewart seems to play his character a little rough around the edges, and it makes him come off as more cynical than a man caugth up in a mystery. Doris Day, however, does overdo her crying scenes a tad, and something about the way she sings the song feels a tad off.
On the other hand, the crying scenes are the only false note in her otherwise wonderful performance, which is the best in the film.
