Review of The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) by Steve M — 06 Jul 2013
Leaving aside its more obvious merits, what I really like about this film is Doris Day's portrayal of the sensible and long-suffering wife who has to put up with the arrogance and stupidity of husband James Stewart.
The title could have been: The Man Who Knew Much Less Than His Wife. I may add: wonderful, wonderful location shooting! Let it never be said that Hitchcock was not sensitive to place! And: of all H's films, this one may display most emphatically the metaphysics of (Hitchcockian) cinema.
