Solid Hitchcock thriller. The remake of his classic film is upgraded with much higher production values and casting James Stewart and Doris Day, two of the most famous actors of their era, and a fantastic scene that takes place at the Royal Albert Hall as peaks when Doris Day screams and the Prime Minister is shot and wounded.
But what makes this film not surpass the original version is that it's a lot slower than the original, the ending is one of Hitchcock's weakest endings and it doesn't have the benefit of having a villain that compares to the great Peter Lorre in the original.
A worthy film to watch for fans of Hitchcock but it just doesn't compare to the director's best work. 8/10.
