Review of The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976) by Phillip C — 26 Feb 2013
Not exactly the "feel-good" movie of 1976 but a very interesting one nonetheless. Bowie's performance is what some may dismiss as "bland" but I thought it was wonderful. The slow, solemn tone Bowie delivers is perfect for his character.
The theme seems to be "come to Earth, get corrupted", but it goes much deeper than that. The film paints a very sophisticated portrait of an outcast attempting to make it in the world, and at the same time fix things for his home planet.
