Review of The Man Who Cried (2000) by Volo M — 19 Nov 2009
Decided to watch this film after learning that Oleg Yankovsky, my favourite actor, died exactly half a year ago. I wanted to find out how he would manage in a non-Soviet cast, unfortunately, he didn't get to say anything.
At parts the characters felt shallow, but at others the emotional level was really really high. Not an exceptional film in any respect, but a one-time sorrow-inducer.
The blankness might even be a bonus, because to me this doesn't really look like a love-story at heart.
