Review of The Man in the White Suit (1951) by Martin M — 15 Jul 2007
This is a film I discovered by accident while watching Elwy Yost's Saturday Night At The Movies one time on Channel 19. A great classic British comedy, starring Alec Guiness as a scientist who works for a textile company, who invents a new fabric that can't get dirty.
Simple enough, but the fallout from his discovery throws the entire industry, and the unionized workers, into a frenzy. Absolutely hilarious, brilliantly filmed and full of the social commentary that makes for an outstanding comedy.
One of my old-time faves!
