Review of The Man in the Iron Mask (1998) by Matt V — 21 Oct 2010
The Man in the Iron Mask is an invigorating film. It has romance, drama, action and a solid storyline. Leonardo DiCaprio is excellent as both King Louis XIV and his twin brother. Jeremy Irons and John Malkovich also give excellent performances.
As I stated, the storyline is solid. Nothing is weak in this film's storyline. It keeps you enveloped in the treason and betrayals that are included in this film. There is never a dull moment during the 2 hours and change.
The only bad thing about this film is you would expect, with musketeers in the film, that there would be a lot of sword-fighting. Right? Well unfortunetly, sword-fighting scenes is the only thing this film lacks.
There is a huge sword fight at the end and even that is small in scale. But the rest of the film makes up for the lack of sword fights. A must see.
