Review of The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit (1956) by Curtis H — 30 Dec 2011
A work of the 1950's that has retained all the depth and truth that it had when it was published. The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit portrays in a raw, very real way, an island of a man who struggles to rediscover the worth of his life after the tragedies of war have shaken his very being.
Though the society he rediscovers after his military service is that of baby-booming 1950s corporate America, the flawed but universal concept of the American dream is captured by this genuinely touching gem.
Gregory Peck gives a very sympathetic performance as a protagonist who learns the importance of family and self worth, over the love of status or financial gain.
