Review of The Man from Nowhere (2010) by Squall C — 07 Jul 2011
Every movie has a scene in which everyone remembers and uses to classify it, I'm finding myself lost at which scene was better than the rest; it's pretty tough.
This movie further emphasizes the importance and significance of Asian media over movies made and released stateside and is one of the best purchases I've made in awhile.
Man From Nowhere is a simple and beautiful tale of a man who is left with nothing in his life and finds solace in his small next-door neighbor, but finds in himself everything he needs in order to save her.
I was caught up in some of the cinematography choices made in this movie, and the color scale used further amplified the intense situations.
The choreography was top notch and the knife fight scenes really "put you into perspective" of the fight.
Amazing characters and story twists that only let you see them coming, just to hit you with a different one out of nowhere. I felt felt driven to watch our hero fight and only paused or lost intrest with the police characters that don't deserve most of the screen-time the got.
Perhaps I'm more partial to Koreans, but this far surpasses Man on Fire or any other of the latter.
Great balance and awesome theme song.
"Those who only live for tomorrow, get fucked by those who are living for today.".
