Review of The Man from Earth (2007) by Adrian W — 09 Mar 2010
I like the idea of the movie and it does explore interesting issues such as the Jesus theory. It reminds me a lot of Eco's Baudolino. The big difference to that book is though, that Umberto Eco can develop a story in a engaging and well paced manner, while the movie fails in this: the characters react in a very strange fashion to Oldman's revelation and show attitudes that can neither be explained by the (not yet developed) characters nor by logic.
Additionally, some of the acting is terrible. Too bad, this could have been brilliant - now it just gets a three star rating for at least trying to make an intellectual SciFi movie.
