An easy-peasy Japanesey 4 star for this movie. Simple-Surreal and makes you think like never before.
One can easily put this through the Inception Genre of movies which makes the audience think of the infinite possibilities.
Movie has no visual treats, no extravagant music/sound effects. Imagine this - 8 people sitting around a fireplace and talking over for an hour and a half...talking a lot of sense and some nonsense too..left to one's belief n disbeliefs. Jerome Bixby's screenwriting has helped Richard Schenkman a lot and made his life so easy in directing this feature. Brilliant casting too-most of 'em from the american small screen epics like Star Trek, CSI, Young&Restless, Days etc. Looking at David Lee Smith in this flick gave me an idea that he could be cast to play Robert Deniro if there would be a movie made about the legend anytime sooner!
Technically the most simplest movies I have ever seen so far. From a production cost perspective - bloody damn cheap movie in that sense :).
There are a few technical glitches or goof-ups mainly concerning the continuity but can be ignored.
I thoroughly enjoyed the way the movie makes your mind wander around without prompting for too much of visuals...If you are an avid lover of TED videos watching inanely all those videos spanning from various different aspects of science, various different walks of life - then "The man from earth" is one helluva joy ride.
Go for it!
PS : For some reason Alexis Thorpe reminded me of Ramya aka Divya Spandana. She almost looks like a cross-over between Ramya and Katrina Kaif. iLikey :).
