There's a lot of similarities between this and Chinatown. But while this was the first great noir film, Chinatown seems to have taken the style and given it more layers of depth. Still, ya gotta love Bogart's "Don't fuck with me" attitude.
Slippery characters, surprise twists, a shadowy setting, all make for a classic.
