Review of The Maltese Falcon (1941) by Tim F — 24 Sep 2009
Have seen many, many times on the tube. Last night saw it on the big screen for the first time. Amazing cast, and many subtle characterizations and interplay that don't always get noticed on the first viewing.
Last night I noticed for the first time the moment when Spade figures out who killed Archer, and it was indicated by nothing more than a sidways glance. That's my criteria for what makes a 'good movie' - one that can be watched over and over again and you always find something new.
