Review of The Maltese Falcon (1941) by Corey M — 07 Oct 2009
Bogart is one cold dude, ideally I'd be like him in life. And it is his character that makes this movie, the guy is just in control at all times despite not knowing what is next. The direction is good pre-noir explosion, you can see the groundwork of symmetrical imagery here.
I thought the last act was a pretty interesting way to upend what came before, a change of pace that felt awkward but not unworthy of what had already occurred. Strongly recommended to fans of film.
