Review of The Maltese Falcon (1941) by Drew C — 11 Oct 2009
Almost word for word of Dashiell Hamet's hard-boiled novel is used in John Huston's shadow-covered crime flick. Starring the always classic Humphrey Bogart as the ubiquitous anti-hero Sam Spade, the plot twists and turns come at surprising and well-paced times.
Augmented with a supporting cast including Sydney Greenstreet (in his debut performance), the infamous Mary Astor, and the downright creepy Peter Lorre, The Maltese Falcon hits all the right notes with mind games and gun play.
