Review of The Maltese Falcon (1941) by Bob L — 04 Oct 2010
Blimey! Hadn't seen this in years, and from the look of it you might dismiss it as run of the mill 'noir'. But what struck me was the amount of story and character in here! So much so, that it seems the actors deliver their lines like an episode of The Gilmour Girls (at breakneck speed) to fit it all in! The story is solid, and while some of the scenes are shot very unimaginatively, theres no doubt that the story is the whole point to this movie.
No gloss, padding or plot holes here. Lots of twists and fast paced. No wonder it's a classic!
