Review of The Maltese Falcon (1941) by Brad G — 16 Nov 2010
"When you're slapped, you'll take it and like it." Humphrey Bogart talks the talk and walks the walk as P.I. Sam Spade; he's the reason smoking makes you cool. After his partner is shot down in the dark, Spade is engulfed in a murderous quest for the antiquated and precious Maltese Falcon.
..Whipsmart trash talk and a Bogart smile behind every punch--fantastic. And yes, there are some other great performances from Peter Lorre, Sydney Greenstreet, and Elisha Cook Jr, but it's all about Bogie.
An essential movie. VF.
