Review of The Maltese Falcon (1941) by Sam P — 15 Feb 2014
I remember I watched this movie with my dad around 25 years ago, I had some image of my favorite actor of all time, Humphrey Bogart and Peter Lorre's unique face and impressions. I love this movie, great beautiful and mysterious story.
The character of Sam Soade is not a hero but a greedy smart detective, he doesn't have special abilities like sherlock holmes, but he is a believable smart man with morality issue. The femme fatale of the movie, Mary Astor reminded me of Helen Hunt.
The scene between Sam and Brigid truly well made, with the great dialogue and performance. My favorite scene in this movie when Joel Cairo is going to Sam's office, Funnny, entertaining with excitement.
I love how these movies are using dialogue in a very smart way, you can enjoy the beautiful conversation between characters which might be threatening each other even but in a smart and beautiful words.
Overall, this is for sure is one of my favorite movies of all time and my favorite in Noir genre.
