This is the 1,000th film I have ever seen, and it's perfectly fitting that it is among the best films I have ever seen. The Maltese Falcon to me is everything right about the Mystery genre: a perfect blend of suspense, thrills, twists, acting, characters, music and much more.

The thing about the Maltese Falcon is that it's not just one of these influential films that needs to be respected for its time; it still holds up today and is one of those great masterpieces that isn't boring.

I loved the Direction and all of the camera work. One thing that I especially loved was that Bogart's Character, Sam Spade, is not the perfect protagonist that we're accustomed to. He's selfish and self-seeking, and while he does the occasional good action, he's out for himself.

He's pretty much like the villains in the film, but the fact that he's so deep and developed shows that the film is making an effort to be really interesting. I'm sure I'll be rewatching this over and over again over the next few years of my life.
