Review of The Magnificent Seven Ride! (1972) by John A — 25 Aug 2010
Weakest of the popular western series. Van Cleef does a good job filling in the shoes left by Yul Brynner and George Kennedy. But nobody around him picks up the slack. The idea of seven gunslingers taking on a ruthless gang to save a town really shouldn't deserve four films.
The plot of taking men from prison to fight is just a "Dirty Dozen" rip off. The ending is different as Chris stays with the saved town, but otherwise this is the exact same story you've seen before.
